The Pink Logs have an eye for spotting talent and this week they were
proven right again with songstress Gin
Wigmore. Perez Hilton has already given Gin his stamp
of approval as he's been quoted as saying "This blonde from New
Zealand reminds us of a few of our favorite artists - like Skybox,
Joel
Plaskett Emergency and Macy
Gray." Gin loved The Pink Logs so much that she
tried to take them back home to Sydney with her, but unfortunately
The Logs had prior commitments. Next time, Gin, we promise.

All Mankind - Can You Hear Me (Lakeside Records)
Australian act All
Mankind has become a fan favorite both at home and abroad, having
performed over 500 times in the last three years to more than 100,000
ecstatic fans. The quartet, comprised of vocalist/guitarist/pianist
Rich Beeston, brother Dave Beeston on drums and backing vocals,
bassist Gavin Perkins and lead guitarist Domy, has parleyed that live
success into album sales into the thousands, as well as award
nominations for songwriting and performance in both Australia and
America. The group's debut
album, Regenerate
(2004), gained a Top 10 spot in the Australian Christian charts along
with a top 10 spot in the independent album sales for 2005. The
band's follow up album, Infant
Logic (2006),
was equally as successful; its release saw nominations for Male
Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Contemporary Artist of
the Year. The single "I Give in to You" earned a No.1 spot on the
independent chart and received nationwide airplay in Australia and
regional airplay in the US. In February 2008 the group adopted the
new name All Mankind and went into the studio with noted ARIA-winning
producer David Nicholas (Elton
John,
Sting),
who called the resulting effort, Puzzles,
"a great album from a great young Australian band." For details

Sash! Featuring Stung - Raindrops (White label)
Sash! is a German DJ/producer team fronted by Sascha
Lappessen, who works in the recording studio
with Ralf Kappmeier and Thomas "Alisson" LŸdke. They have sold
over 17 million albums worldwide and earned more than 65 Gold and
Platinum awards in the process. The trio formed in 1995 but enjoyed
their big break in 1997, when the song "Encore Une Fois" hit No.2
on the UK singles chart, simultaneously making the Top 10 in five
other countries and the Top 20 in seven further lands. In the same
year, Sash! produced "Ecuador" and "Stay," which both also
reached No.2 in the UK Singles Chart. In 1998, Sash! released the
first single from his second album, "La Primavera," which reached
No.3; "Mysterious Times," which reached No.2, and "Move Mania,"
which reached No.8. In 2000, "Adelante" was released from the new
album Trilenium
and reached No.2, while "Just Around The Hill" and "With My Own
Eyes" were also released in that year, reaching No.8 and No.10
respectively. Now, after an absence of eight years from the UK
charts, Sash! returns with "Raindrops," a mesmerizing mashup of
their initial big hit, "Encore Une Fois," with Stunt's 2006 hit
"Raindrops." The result is a bass in your face club anthem that
is already a major hit in clubs throughout Europe. Put a little heat
in your day by viewing the video now.

FRANZ FERDINAND
ENJOYING TALE OF "ULYSSES": For the second straight week
Scots quartet Franz Ferdinand tops the Mediaguide Alternative
Specialty Song chart with "Ulysses," the first single from their
forthcoming album Tonight (Epic), which drops to the second
spot on the Album end from last week's pole position. It was
supplanted there by a veritable blast from the past: The Clash with
Live at Shea Stadium (Epic/Legacy), which documents the
legendary act's opening set for the Who at Shea Stadium in October
1982. Facing a hostile reaction from a crowd dominated by Who fans,
Joe Strummer and company responded with a fierce performance
highlighted by such hits as "London Calling," "Tommy Gun" and
"I Fought the Law." The album hits the No.1 spot without the
benefit of any one single tune landing in the Top 20 of the Song
chart...a feat that's repeated by this week's No.4 on the Album
index, the Black Ghosts with their eponymous effort on the I Am Sound
label. The London-based electro-pop outfit received a big break when
their song "Full Moon" was chosen for inclusion in the
blockbuster film Twilight and its accompanying soundtrack.
Back on the Song side, last week's No.2, Living Things with "Let
it Rain" (Zomba), slips slightly to No.3 this week, with the second
spot going to Matt and Kim's "Daylight" (Green Label Sound).
Top debut honors this week go to Los Campesinos! with "Ways to Make
It through the Wall," which bows at No.4 and helps propel the Welsh
group's full-length, the cheerily titled We Are Beautiful, We
Are Doomed (Arts & Crafts), to a No.8 showing on the Album
index. Also making impressive showings this week on the Song side are
Shiny Toy Guns at No.5 with "Ghost Town" (UMRG), Pendulum at No.7
with "Propane Nightmares" (Earstorm/Atlantic) and Longwave at
No.8 with "No Direction" (Original Signal).
