GLASVEGAS--"GERALDINE" AGAIN NO.1: While the rest of the
hushhushATTACK staff continues to recover from a tumultuous week in
Jolly Olde London, your faithful chart analyst continues to ply his
craft, letting you know what's hip and happening on the Mediaguide
Alternative Specialty charts...regardless of the fact that he
probably downed more good 12-year-old Scotch in the past week in Los
Angeles than the entire crew did while in England. Speaking of things
Scottish, a nice rebound effort for Glaswegian four-piece Glasvegas,
who leap 9-1 on the Mediaguide Alternative Specialty Song chart with
"Geraldine," reclaiming the pole position after tumbling 1-9 the
previous week. The radio edit courtesy of Columbia Records picked up
enough spins to also capture the runner-up spot on the Album end;
look for the group to hit American shores in early January, with full
dates available at www.myspace.com/glasvegas.
Meanwhile, remaining firmly in place at No.2 on the Song side are
Stereophonics with "My Own Worst Enemy," which holds that
position for the third consecutive week and helps greatest hits
collection Decade in the Sun (Fontana) remain at No.5 on the
Album index. Top debut honors this week go to Scott Weiland with
"Missin' Cleveland," which bows at No.3 and begs that the
question be asked: is he referring to the town by Lake Erie, or the
imminent departure of a beloved "Family Guy" character for his
own show? Enquiring minds wish to know. Regardless of the subject
matter, the single play helps the forthcoming full-length from the
former Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver vocalist, Happy in
Galoshes (Softdrive, out November 25), to a No.6 showing on the
Album chart. He has tentative plans for a small American tour in
January; check www.myspace.com/scottweiland
for cities and dates. Finally, Snow Patrol takes over the top spot on
the Album index this week, moving 2-1 with A Hundred Million Suns
(Geffen) despite the lack of any one song in the Top 20.
