The Logs have returned from their recent trips to Italy and Florida and are
back at work. The paparazzi sent us these unauthorized pictures of The Logs
at the office; doing everything from taking a smoke break, mailing documents
at the post office, getting something to eat & drink, having a board meeting
and working hard on the phones. If you see any Pink Logs around your neck of
the woods, be sure to send them to hushhush ATTACK! and we'll feature them
in a future newsletter.

Does It Offend You,
Yeah? - Epic Last Song
(Almost Gold/Virgin)
Okay, here's the
official story behind one of our favorite band names of the last
decade, as told by synth player Dan Coop to the NME:
"Everybody thinks the name is some kind of statement, but it's a
quote from David Brent in 'The Office.' When me and
[bassist/vocalist] James Rushent first started writing music together
we decided to put it up on MySpace. We needed a name to put as our
profile name so just put what was the first thing that was said on
TV...we switched it on and Ricky Gervais was saying, 'Does it
offend you, yeah? My drinking?' So, we just went with that. No
thought whatsoever." The four-piece electro/punk/funk act from
Reading, England (which also includes guitarist/vocalist Morgan
Quaintance and drummer Rob Bloomfield) has already received airplay
from Sirius Satellite's Left of Center, KROQ Los Angeles and
WXRT Chicago to name a few. The group's music has garnered eclectic
comparisons to other acts that span the full spectrum of today's
rock music, ranging from Daft
Punk and Justice
to Muse
and Rage
Against the Machine.

Pistol Youth - When I
Go Out (Unsigned)
The four-piece known as
Pistol Youth is something of an international supergroup, comprised
of New Zealanders Bradley Carter from Steriogram
on vocals/guitar and drummer Gavin Kerr from Wash, along with
Australian guitarist Michael Guy Chislett from The
Academy Is and Swedish bassist Anders Borgh from The
First Class Hitmen. Of course, as you can imagine, trying to schedule
sessions around the recording and touring priorities of four separate
acts proved well-nigh impossible...but undaunted (and helped in good
part by 21st century technology), after talking about
putting together an EP for over a year, the quartet pieced it all
together without all four ever meeting in the same room. Though they
facetiously describe the resulting sound as "four trainwrecks all
intertwined," the self-released Smiling Can Backfire EP
proved to be such a success that the foursome got together for the
first time in a studio this past January in Los Angeles, with the
goal of completing a full-length album. Check out this truly
innovative video and to learn more about the band, go to

THE GEEKS ARE
ALRIGHT: "The Geeks Were Right," the first single from Omaha
indie idols The Faint's forthcoming album Fasciinatiion
(blank.wav), moves to the top of the Mediaguide Alternative Specialty
Song chart in its second week of release. The full-length itself
vaults 5-2 on the Album end, trailing only Alt troubadour Beck, who
once again grabs the top spot with Modern Guilt (Interscope)
thanks to a pair of charting tracks on the Song side: "Orphans"
at No.10 and "Gamma Ray" at No.13. Last week's holders of the
top slot on the Song chart, The Verve with "Love is Noise," drop
to No.2 this week, though the full-length Four (On Our Own)
remains firmly ensconced in the third position on the Album index.
The rest of the Top Five on the Song side this week are debuts, led
by Nashville natives Be Your Own Pet at No.3 with "Becky," a
track from their Get Damaged EP (XL), which bows at No.4 on
the Album end. They're followed by longtime Alt faves the Dandy
Warhols, who clock in at No.4 with "The Legend of the Last of the
Outlaw Truckers"--wait a second, shouldn't that be a Kid Rock
tune?--helping new album Earth to the Dandy Warhols (Beat the
World) to a No.5 showing on the Album chart. The Dandy Warhols will
be doing Euro summer festival circuit throughout July before mounting
a North American tour in early September. Rounding out the Top Five
is The Gaslight Anthem, who chart with the title track from their new
album, The '59 Sound (Side One Dummy), which itself bows at
No.11 on the Album end. The New Jersey quartet will certainly be
racking up the frequent flyer miles this summer, with gigs scheduled
for Australia, Tasmania, England and Germany, along with a variety of
jaunts across North America; full details at
www.myspace.com/thegaslightanthem.
