The Pink Logs had a great time last week with the Detroit Red
Wings, celebrating their 11th Stanley Cup
title. Both the Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins made it one
exciting series and both teams need to be congratulated. If you ever
come face to face with The Pink Logs, make sure you take photos and
send them to us, we'll share...we promise.

Ella Rouge - Avalon (Moby Dick Music)
Ella Rouge is fronted
by the talented and charismatic Ludvig Andersson, who has the blood
of pop royalty flowing through his veins: his father is ABBA
mastermind Benny Andersson, a man who knows a thing or two about
crafting potent pop hooks. Their performance at MUSEXPO
2006 certainly disproved the old theory that talent skips a
generation; the sextet's stirring set had the audience of
international tastemakers and decision-makers sitting up and taking
notice, as the group romped through rockin' numbers like "Eldorado
High," "L.A. Dogs," "That's Me with the Gun" and "Jekyll
and Hyde." But the group also demonstrated a softer side during
that performance, particularly with the spectacular ballad "Weary,"
featuring the gorgeous ivory tickling of pianist Mats Lundgren and a
soaring vocal from Andersson. Now, two years later, Ella Rouge is
returning with another number that recalls that last-named track:
"Avalon," which isn't to be confused with the old Roxy
Music song of the same name but shares a beauty that
transcends the ordinary run-of-the-mill, disposable pop so prevalent
today. Check out
"Avalon" and find Ella Rouge on MySpace

Girl Talk - Bounce
That (Illegal Art)
Gregg Gillis works at a
biotech company in Pittsburgh during the day. At night, Gregg
transforms into Girl Talk, the music producer and mashup DJ who is
making a name for himself for his live shows and mixes around the
world. Gregg was in a noise band called The Joysticks back in high
school, where he would add noise over the popular Top 40 songs. He
heard Kid
606's remix of "Straight Outta Compton," which
was one of his first introductions to mashups and was addicted ever
since. In 2000, he started at Case Western Reserve University in
Cleveland to study biomedical engineering. He also pursued his love
to make mashups and mixes. The result? Girl Talk is one of the most
popular mashup DJs in the world and his live shows are notorious for
his antics, including removing most of his clothing during a
performance. He has two EP's, three albums and is putting the
finishing touches on the fourth album, Wild Peace IV: Feed The
Animals, Raise The Dead. To witness this magical, music mix, you
can view the video to "Bounce That" created by the students of
COMS274 Intermedia 1 Dept. of Communication Studies at Concordia
University. You can also check out additional music, tour dates and
much more of Girl Talk at http://www.myspace.com/girltalkmusic.

TOUCH ME I'M GOING
TO SCREAM, PART II: The Specialty panel continues to show great
amounts of love for My Morning Jacket, as the Kentucky quintet once
again tops the Mediaguide Alternative Specialty Song chart with
"Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Part II," regaining the pole
position after more than a month away. It helps propel the group's
awesome new album, Evil Urges (ATO), to No.2 on the Album end.
With the full-length just hitting stores yesterday (June 10), expect
to hear much, much more from frontman Jim James and his cohorts over
the coming months, starting with what's sure to be a potent
performance at the Bonnaroo fest. Just behind MMJ on the Song side is
Ladytron with "Ghosts" at No.2, helping full-length Velocifero
(Nettwerk) attain the top spot on the Album index...just ahead of My
Morning Jacket. At No.3 on the Song side is the new one from Beck,
the hallucinatory "Chemtrails" (Interscope), followed by fellow
Alt legends The Cure, who drop to No.4 with "The Only One (Mix 13)"
(Suretone/Geffen) after enjoying the view from the top for
consecutive weeks. Top debut honors on the Song side go to Vampire
Weekend with their number "Oxford Comma" (XL/Beggars Group),
which bows at No.6, helping their eponymous debut album reach the
same position on the Album end. Hot on the heels of the Ivy League
rockers at No.7 is Tickle Me Pink with the self-released "Typical,"
followed at No.8 by Wind-up's Seether with "Rise Above This."
Finally, despite not having a single song crack the Top 20, Weezer's
"Red Album" (DGC/Interscope) lands at No.3 on the Album index,
proof positive that the panel is enjoying many diverse cuts from
Rivers Cuomo and the lads' latest effort.
