Flying over 10,000 miles this week, The Pink Logs have made their way from Australia to France for MIDEM. In this trek, the Pink Logs have taken a liking to the band Dúné, who didn't want to see the Logs leave, but all good things come to an end.

Blog-In PINK LOGS DECLARE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDACY!!!

Urge electorate to "Think Pink!"

In a stunning move that took many seasoned political observers completely by surprise, the recently ubiquitous Pink Logs have declared their collective candidacy for the highest office in the land--President of the United States of America and de facto leadership of the free world.

"The theme of this presidential campaign has been 'change,'" read a press release from the Pink Logs' palatial headquarters in Beverly Hills. "But from our point of view, it looks like more of the same-old, same-old politics of the past, gussied up in fancy new phrases but delivered by the same tired cast of talking heads. It's obvious that the majority of the nation feels much the same way, with deep divisions in each of the major political parties becoming more apparent with every passing primary. That is why the Pink Logs have decided to declare for the Presidency: as symbols of true change and a beacon of hope to all the disenfranchised Americans alienated by the 21st century political process."

So, there you have it, folks! If you can't stomach the thought of eight more years of Billary...perceive McCain as more of a McCan't...find distasteful the thought of a president's surname rhyming with "Yo Mama"...or simply harbor a deeply heartfelt desire to NOT (heart) Huckabees...then you may wish to look into voting for the Pink Logs yourself. Because, melanin amounts aside, beneath our skins we all share the same color: Pink!

Andy Griffin - Creative & Music Consultant/The Asian Connection

Give a brief career overview and how you got to your position today.

I started out playing the drums in bands which led to recording bands and so by the mid 90s I was working as a studio engineer in London. That paved the way to working at labels like Sony BMG and Universal. I also had a stab at running my own label. I got involved with music supervision just by chance to be honest. Keith Bell (the film's producer) is a friend of mine from my Newcastle student days (I'm his daughter Grace's Godfather). When Keith was putting together 'The Tournament' I asked him if he'd any thoughts about the musical direction and offered to give him a hand. I think he was so stressed about raising the finances he just said yes out of relief more than anything else.

Tell us about "The Tournament" and your involvement in the film.

The film itself is about a tournament which takes place every 10 years in an unsuspecting town. It's a battle royale between 40 of the world's deadliest assassins. The last man standing receiving the $10,000,000 cash prize and the title of Worlds No.1, which itself carries the legendary million dollar-a-bullet price tag. All fights are monitored 24 hrs. a day on redirected CCTV cameras and broadcast secretly to a ring of high stake billionaire gamblers.

It was filmed last year in Bulgaria and England and the cast includes Robert Caryle, Ving Rhames, Kelly Hu and Ian Somerhalder. Keith and Scott Mann (the film's director) are in the process of putting together the directors cut which I'm looking forward to seeing as I have just been working off the script so far.

Tell us some of the speed bumps or roadblocks that you come across in your position. The time difference is one issue, but you can work around that. Also, you always have half an eye on the future and more work. I am always on the look out for new work! The labels and publishers are very forthcoming with a lot of content so you have to be aware of what tracks work and what won't very quickly. Once you have a feel for the film though, you know pretty quickly what is suitable. It also helps having guys like Ross Pelling at Universal Music Publishing in the UK advising me, putting forward new acts; that keeps me on top of the scene.

You are currently in Thailand. Are you originally from there?

No, am originally from the UK and was working for Universal Music in London up until 2006. My girlfriend works for Tesco (big supermarket chain like Wal-Mart) and was offered a job out here. We both love diving and traveling so we thought why not? The upshot of the time difference is that I have to tailor my work to be mostly on-line and work UK/American hours - can make for a long day!

What are some of the misconceptions about Thailand that you have encountered?

That it's full of sex-crazed middle aged fat Western recently divorced men. That's just in our neighborhood. It's a great place to live though; amazing food, weather and Bangkok is a fantastic and vibrant city.

What music have you been listening to lately?

English singer songwriter Alex Cornish, an Aussie band called Expatriate, Mink and a Texas band called The Blowing Trees - I can highly recommend them!

What advice can you give for anyone that wants to get into music supervision?

Like most jobs in the music industry, there is no hard and fast rules in getting into music supervision. This is just one job that I do; I also co-manage a singer, assist some local promoters, work with other management companies etc, etc, so it's important to keep your options open. It's also important to listen to as much music as possible because you never know when and where a track might work. So I constantly scour online for music, invite submissions from bands and am always in touch with my contacts at the labels, publishers and management companies.  Nowadays, what with the state of the industry you'll find content rights owners are more open to the idea of using their music in films so I see myself as a 'filter' between them and the film producers. They don't have enough time to listen to the music that I get to hear.

Random Question Time

First movie you rented: Hmm, God knows...it was Betamax in those days. I hope it was a cool film, maybe it was 'The Griswold's Family Vacation'...really can't remember.

Best soundtrack you own: "This Is Spinal Tap" - Spinal Tap - what else?

Hollywood remakes, good or bad: Bad - just look what they did to 'The Italian Job' the second time round....

Potato chips or pretzels: Definitely not pretzels

How many DVDs do you own: Hundreds, they are very cheap around where we live! My girlfriend buys a lot box sets and crappy 'rom-coms' though.

MP3 Red Vein - Red Vein (Red Vein Music)

Hailing from the burgeoning music scene of Bristol, England is Red Vein, a straightforward alternative pop quartet at the forefront of a new movement that's all about sticking to your guns and being unafraid to do what others won't. Their sound, which has been described as both "melodic, rollercoaster rock" and "beautiful, dark pop music that washes you away like the first whiskey of a hangover," has drawn comparisons not only to such New Wave-era masters as Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson, but also to '80s icons like The Cure, New Order and Depeche Mode. The four-piece, which consists of Ollie Smith, Adam Smith, Steve Howe and Alex Cole, recently self-released an EP on iTunes, The Thrill that Kills (produced by Paul Corkett - The Cure, Bjork, Placebo, Biffy Clyro), and followed up its release with a dizzying series of five shows over the span of 40 hours during a whirlwind weekend in New York City in October.  The band also appeared recently in Vietnam, playing to over 20,000 people live and 6 million Vietnamese citizens via a live television broadcast.  Recommended songs: "Red Vein" and "One Little Thing," check out their MySpace page.

Adele - Chasing Pavements (XL Recordings)

Born in London, Adele was proclaimed as one of the artists to watch in 2008. She is a graduate of the Brit School for performing arts in Croydon, South London. There, she met other successful schoolmates Kate Nash, Lily Allen, Leona Lewis and Amy Winehouse. Adele grew up listening to such jazz legends as Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James and R&B powerhouses like Roberta Flack and Billie Holiday.

Her debut album, 19, was just released on January 28th and debuted at #1 on the UK charts. Fans and critics both agree that she has the talent to become a superstar. One critic was quoted as saying Adele has "a sensational voice: rich, robust, voluptuously bluesy...2008's most promising act...(and) the new Amy Winehouse." Dana Sano, the musical supervisor for Dan In Real Life said ''She's out of the U.K., and she's 19 - a pianist with an incredible voice. She's being produced by Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse, Robbie Williams, Lily Allen, Nikka Costa) right now.''

Her latest single, "Chasing Pavements," has reached #2 on the UK Singles charts so far and she recently released the video. For additional information on Adele, log on to her website and her MySpace page.

Chart Analysis

Chart Analysis BE YOUR OWN PET GETS STROKED: By the Mediaguide Alternative Specialty Song panel, that is, as "The Kelly Affair," the first single from their forthcoming Get Awkward album (due out March 18 from Ecstatic Peace!/Universal), ascends to the top spot on the Song chart...and receives so much airplay that the song also ranks as #2 on the Album end, to boot. The Nashville-based quartet will soon embark on a 10-day West Coast swing with the Raveonettes on February 29 prior to heading overseas for some UK gigs, beginning March 20. And while we're on the topic of Raveonettes, they also enter the Song chart this week at #18 with "Dead Sound" (Vice), aiding the happily titled Lust Lust Lust to achieve a #7 showing on the Album index. Big moves on both charts this week by Gnarls Barkley, whose "Run" sprints 8-2 on the Song chart, propelling full-length The Odd Couple (Downtown/Atlantic) 19-4 on the Album end. There's a trio of hot debuts filling the 5-7 slots on the Song chart, led by Panic! At The Disco with "Nine in the Afternoon" (Decaydance/Fueled by Ramen/Atlantic) at #5, helping album Pretty Odd to a #13 showing on that index. They're followed at #6 by Bell X1 and "Rocky Took a Lover" (Yep Roc), which in turn assists their full-length, Flock, to a #8 Album chart showing. Coming up next is Welsh chanteuse Duffy, who rides a retro Dusty Springfieldesque sound to the #7 slot with "Mercy" (Mercury). Also securing a Top 10 Song debut is longtime Alt-fave Goldfrapp, whose "A&E" (Mute) bows at #10, while album Seventh Tree comes in at #17. Finally, holding down the #1 slot on the Album end for the third week in a row are Vampire Weekend and their self-titled debut from XL/Beggars Group, which didn't do too badly on the charts its first week out--over 27k units sold and a #17 debut on the Top 200.

Jokes From The Road

Two guys are sitting on a bar stool. One starts to insult the other one. He screams, "I slept with your mother!" The bar gets quiet as everyone listens to see what the other weasel will do. The first again yells, "I SLEPT WITH YOUR MOTHER!

The other says, "Go home Dad, you're drunk."
