Tastemakers
‘Love & Admire’ Interpol
Interpol
is about to embark on a 39 date tour beginning in the states on the
27th of this month and ending in Leeds in August for the Leeds
Festival in support of their Capitol release, Our
Love To Admire
(according to their myspace
page). This is the third week in a row the boys hover high above the
Mediaguide ‘Songs’ chart while at the same time returning
to #1 on the ‘Albums’ chart after dropping to #2 last
week. WBTZ Burlington, VT - Plattsburgh, NY leads the pack again this
week supporting Interpol’s #1 specialty single, “The
Heinrich Maneuver” 31x per week in A-list rotation. In
conclusion, baritone/Ian Curtis vocal stylings are alive and well in
2007. Speaking of Ian Curtis, Anton Corbijn’s film, Control,
a
biopic of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis, from his teenage years
through the rise of the influential band to his suicide on the verge
of Joy Division's first American tour is slated for a 2007 release.
Or you can just go rent Happyness with Will Smith… Your call…
and moving along, The Polyphonic Spree debut in the Top 20 this week
on the ‘Songs’ chart with early tastemaker support from
KROX Austin, TX, KTCZ Minneapolis - St. Paul, MN & KXTE Las
Vegas. Lastly, congrats must be given to former WHRL’er Capone
who is hired by Finest City Broadcasting’s Alternative XTRA-FM
(91X) San Diego, CA for MD/Afternoons (effective June 4th).
Nice debuts: The Winter Sounds, The National & Nine Inch Nails
(Capital “G”).

| Adam Webb |
Adam
Webb (WSFM – Surf 98.3)
For those of you working in radio promotion, specifically new music
show promotion, you’ll most likely be familiar with the show
“The Final Hour” on WSFM (Surf 98.3) which has been up
and running for 8 years now. The show is known for playing an
eclectic mix of debuts, punk, metal, deep cuts and rarities. After a
million and one on-air personality changes and a few name changes,
the Final Hour is back in full force with Adam Webb in the driver’s
seat. Adam jumped into the business at the University of North
Carolina Wilmington, where he began producing entertainment related
campus events. After buying radio spots for a national act that was
coming through campus, AW received an internship and began working in
the Surf 98.2’s promo department. From there he was nick-named
‘Intern Dizzle’ and became a permanent fixture on his
sister station's morning show while continuing to work part time on
Surf. This eventually led to AW scoring the nighttime slot.
Like
most radio industry folk, Adam wears many hats. He programs The Final
Hour, updates the website, designs logos for big events and cleans
the toilets as well (according to the allaccess report that is). Webb
manages all of this while holding down a job at the House of Blues in
Myrtle Beach and attending UNCW. If all goes well, he sees himself
doing a nationally syndicated show or producing music sometime in the
future.

Sicky
Dicky
presented 2
Live Crew
at the Malibu Inn in California earlier this month to a crowd of
white fraternity kids who stared in disbelief. I have to give DJ
Skeet Skeet props for reposting his pics without permission (like he
cares)… Make sure to check out more pics of 2 Live Crew and
their ‘dancer’ getting wild at the Malibu Inn on skeet’s
page here.
